Deutsche Sprache, schwere Sprache ...

@Assarbad

Was kennst du davon schon?

@ Assarbad
No prob, although German is not such a difficult language to read for me, the grammar is though. (I haven't got all the German syllables on my keyboard either :) )

What I was really asking for is more details on how Borbarad tries to neutralise the Horas-Empire. And how this fits in his global scheme.

I know about the Frathernitas Uthari, Donna Saya di Zeforika and how they plan to use disease (Red Death) to weaken the Empire.
You have the attempt of Saya to retrieve the Aaren-stone in the dragon's lair.
Supposedly to start another demon-war?

I know she gets killed by stealing the "hart of Tobriën" Sumus Kate,... why she needs it, nobody knows, ...
Does Borbarad need this to conjure the Omegatheron at Ysilies-height?

It looks like Borbarad uses political intrige to usurpe the Empire.
Kusmina? The order of the enlightened master of true faith? What actions are linked to Borbarad and what is just plain Horas-Empire politics....

I myself created a complete plan for Borbarads actions in the Horas-Empire, but I have the experience that self-thought threads can conflict with the main campagne thread in the long run. That is why I want to know if someone has some information about it. My players are now finishing the Horas-thread (Di Zeforika was killed last session in a spectacular battle) and I want to be able to tigh up all the lose ends :)) I want my players to know what they have achieved to give them a sense of power against Borbarad (they have been getting depressed lately :) )

Hi Dave,

Just a brief answer, since you are probably already aware of far more detail in that regard than I am: It would be great if you could share your thoughts about Borbarads scheme concerning the Horas-Empire with us (is there a nice translation of "Liebliches Feld" - it sound so much better in German, than Horasreich ;))! I don't think there _are_ official ressources about all the plans he follows elsewhere in Aventuria.

Generally we assume he concentrated on conquering the geographical areas _east_ of the two great "Chains of Satinav" - first of everything else, that is. ;) I personally don't think he really cared about the Liebliche Feld, but it was a possible ally of the eastern forces he faced. So weakening and poisoning it - maybe even having a vice roy (Kusmina) rule it - would eliminate that ally, at least. That now needed to be done quite early, without military forces and without too obvious demonic help. The military forces Borbarad simply didn't have and if he had had them, the Middle Realm would probably have allied with the Horas Realm the earlier. Demonic forces would have provoked a sudden awareness of real danger in the Middle Realm, too. But the Red Death was - on the background of border quarrels and rising nationalistic spirits - viewed for a loooong time as some natural disease, even a godly punishment for the heretics. And that's the point - the Middle Realm was blind too long to the danger in the east, because they rather quarrelled with the Horas Realm over pity border lands and minor lordly honors.

Maybe - though I don't really think so - he promised Kusmina to be another Hela Horas (preferably with all the beauty and stuff... ;)). Surely he did not intend another Demon War other than his own, because it would give his most important _allies_ - the arch demons - too much power and independency.

Anyway, this was not at all brief, but I find this very interesting. Tell us about your thoughts! :)

Cheers, Windfeder

PS: Just dug this out of my infiniteuos chambers of resources, maybe there's something of interest in it, I don't remember right now: http://dsa.htmlplanet.com/borbarad.html#plaene

@Windfeder

Feel free to answer in German, I can read it very easily. Writing though has proved too difficult a task to make myself understood. :)))
Besides it seems very unnatural to talk about "Das Schwarze Auge" in another language besides German.

I don't really have a clue what Borbarad was really doing in the Horas-Empire but I can tell you which plot I created for my players between Praios 27 Hal and Ingerimm 27 Hal. (Which is a gap in the general thread)

I created a plot where my players get to know what Borbarad is really trying to do, besides tying down the Empires army's on the border with Drôl. (I must stress that the folowing is a product of my personal imagination!! )

I picture Borbarad as a devine beïng who thinks himself in controle of the arch-demons... (which ofcourse he is not, ... ) Therefore he needs there presence and power in the Limbus. The main thing that really stops them from pouring in is the essence of the Nameless God himself, who is chained in the hole he himself created.

Borbarads plan is to free the Nameless God, to get more demons into his reach. (Which could be great for Amazeroth AND the Nameless God, they have both to gain...)
Therefor he needs a few components to break the devine chains:

* A tremendous amount of power
* A ritual to shape the energy's he needs
* A focus or conduit to aim this power
* A piece of essence of the Nameless God to achieve the result.

My heroes find out that Domna Saya is trying to get all these elements. She finds the nessecary energy in the music of Dorgando Paquamon.
(adventure from the box of the Horas Empire)
The ritual she finds in Naranda Ulthagi
(also an adventure from the box)
She uses Sumus Kate as a conduit or focus, which is located in Shafirs dragonshoard instead of Grangor.
(Shafirs Schwur,... a great scène where the Heroes gather around Aldare and the Aarenstone to put up a last stand, and Domna Saya just brushes past them into the dragonshoard to get Sumus Kate)
She now just needs the essence ( a hair ) of the Nameless God to performe the ritual...
The great thing about it, she really succeeds,... but because the Gods can't really let THAT happen, they intervene....
(Die Kanalen von Grangor)
Last but not least the heroes can retrieve Sumus Kate and overcome Domna Saya.
(last adventure of the box)

To tidy up and connect with the general thread I have "Ein bund von Meer und Land" planned. That is why I need the intel on what was really going on :))

I really wanted my heroes to experience Die Kanalen von Grangor because it is an essential part of the final conflict with Borbarad. I know I pulled a trick on Satinav ... but I think it is a reasonable sollution....

I hope you like it :))

I agree that the Kusmina-episode probably not envoked was through machinations of Borbarads design. I cannot find any connection to it.
Does anybody know what role Don Phrenos plays in the Kusmina-episode? He is the closest link Borbarad has to it, I think.

Meisterinformationen:
Don Phrenos is the one behind the theft of the Aarenstone in UdA. He is linked to Domna Saya I believe... and thus to Borbarad.

Borbarad definately wants to do something with the Aarenstone and it DOES involves something with demons (check out the prologue in Shafirs Schwur.)
